A significant indorsement that stood out to me in this reading was when I came across the persona that told of how the Lakota language has words that they put at the end of their sentences that signify whether the speaker is a woman or a man. I have never heard of a language that did this before, and I found it very interesting. It showed how they understood that men and women were different and that they contend different roles in their society. However, unlike many other societies throughout history, they didnt speak out of women as world of less richness than a man. They each had their own good qualities.
I feel that this passage was significant to me because just like everyone else in the world, I have a language that I grew up with and is a part of who I am.
I dont admit how I would react if all of a sudden I was having that language forced away from me, or if it was slowing being corrupted by others to how they thought it should be. Though I grapple from reading this how much more than words their language was to them, so even though I cant all in all relate, I can still imagine how it must feel.
