Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
I doubt there is a book to confuse the mind as Lolita.
Physically the piece of writing of Vladimir Nabokov is delicate, beautiful and incredibly engaging to read, only when the morality and sanity of the protagonist Humbert Humbert becomes increasingly questionable with the turning of every page. This is a impudent that enthralled me, but I would non go as far to say that I enjoyed the disturbing perceptiveness in H.Hs mind, nor would I recommend it merely because of the risqué content.
Then again, it is a startlingly eloquent piece of work.
As a reader, it despise me with romanticised verse and long, rambling sentences .The narrator can be opinion about the most lewd or mundane of things and it equable sounds so picturesque and perfect, and never devoid of sophistication. It took me a mental lexicon to finish the novel, and it was not a pocket edition. The fragile focusing Nabokov strings his words together is an art, even if I did not understand some things, and matte up like presents that once unsheathed of their pretty wrappings, left was in contrast a dispassionately humorous, dark, and cold undercurrent of thought. I could never label this novel anything but a brilliantly satirical tragedy.
It was challenging to read, but it would have been more difficult to discontinue reading
I felt deeply connected to the Humbert and his bitter musings, pulled into his mind, sympathizing his distorted views. Sometimes that conflicted me a lot and I had to pause reading. It was everything against the sense of what I write out what is right and wrong as learnt by my own ethics, as well as societies. By the end of it, I didnt know who was manipulating who; since it was first person narration, was that just Humberts experience of the world around him, of what he wants to persuade the jury that reads his memoirs? I experience a type of reverence for this novel.
